I just bought a white metal bedframe and I want to spray paint it black?Do i really need to sand it if its new?

What is the best spray paint to use, when i finish should i apply a gloss coat on it.

Yes, you should sand the frame. It will allow the new paint to stick to the old paint. Use a high quality paint for metal surfaces. The finish is up to you. P.S. use a fine sandpaper like 200 grit or higher
